A. Tell us about your main character. What is your preferred role? How long have you been playing this character?
Evening all, Trophywife is my main character and she is a rather foxy bloodelf DPS shadowpriest who currently has an item level of 521. My preference is for ranged DPS, I have healed up to about lvl 45 on a druid but found it a little overwhelming from there on in. I've played Trophy for about 4 years now, she started off as an alt but I grew to love her dearly. She's a heartbreaker for sure.
B. What other guilds, if any, have/are you been/a member of? Why did you leave them?
I've always played on Gorefiend and stared off in an amazing guild about 5 years ago, but the name escapes me. I played with the legendary Muzzies and her gang and together, we conquered many of the old school raids, while I played my feral kitty Bowiechild. I left that guild as it fell apart and I joined SCH and then a small family guild, Sanatarium. Sadly, as all good things do, that guild came to an end and the main raid team moved servers and so I found Facepalm. We were meant to be!
C. Explain any previous raiding experience you may have. Which content, if any, have you cleared? How many hours are you accustomed to raiding per week?
Since the 'old days' I have been a casual raider, happy to fit in to assist a guild and play my part. Trophy has completed most of the Lich King raids in 10 man, and a few Cata ones too, after that I'm afraid everything has been in LFR. Bowiechild, my feral druid, completed many of the old classics like ToC, Ulduar (?), Naxx in 10 man. The amount of time I can dedicate to LFR's now depends on my home life, but general 12-14 hours a week, often more, depending on how patient I can be with the LFR groups!
D. What do you like to spend your time doing when you log in?
I seem to go through different phases to be honest, I try to do all of the LFR's each week, on both my 90's. Sometimes I'll go back to levelling an old character for a bit, maxing out my trades or working on rep. I have been know to get obsessed with an achievement, or getting a certain mount, or title....but that's not healthy right?
E. Have you played any other MMOs? What other types of games do you enjoy playing?
Ok, cool story. I have never played ANY other games, apart from maybe 'Just Dance' with the kids once or twice. I moved to Canada from the UK 5 and a half years ago, my brother used to be pro gamer, European Champion at Quake, met his wife (from the US) playing WoW etc. My brother suggested that I buy the game and we can keep in touch that was as boys don't like to use the phone, you know that thing? Anyway, he bet me £10 that I wouldn't get to level 10, set me up, rolled Bowiechild my Druid and tried to help me along. I spent literally weeks running around in circles and killing level 1 animals, it would take me hours to do one simple quest.....but I got to level 10. At the time, I was alone most of time, in a foreign country, where it was -30 degree c, with 18 month old twins and a 3 year old, so I kind of got hooked. I then rolled Trophywife, just to annoy my husband really (who thinks that Wow is 'stupid') and I was away! When I got my druid to lvl 80 and Trophywife was getting close to my brother's gs, my brother QUIT WoW! I think I had hurt his manly pride!
I have met so many amazing people playing this game, people I've been in touch with online and IRL for more than 5 years now and of course I have settled in Canada and made many IRL friends outside WoW, but I'll always be the worlds most unlikely Warcraft player! My twins are now 7 and think I'm the coolest Mum in the world! And I still can't play any other games.....
F. Why do you think Facepalm is right for you?
As I'm a self taught WoW player, nobody has laughed unkindly at the dumb questions I ask now and again, I love the banter and everyone is so helpful. I'd love to have been able to get in on some of your raids but as I'm 2 hours behind server time it's bedtime for the kids. I love to watch all your progress from the background - I'm always cheering you on imaging that one day, this Momma will be one of big guys too.
G. Do you know any of our current members? Will any of these members vouch for you?
I have known Steff for goodness knows how long. We seem to follow each other around guilds. I'm sure (hope) she'd say something nice about me!
H. Tell us a bit about yourself in real life. We enjoy a close relationship between members in Facepalm, and we would enjoy getting to know you as well.
My name is Erica, I'm from Cardiff, Wales in the UK and have lived in Calgary for 5 and a half years now. We moved as my husband is in oil and gas exploration so you could say I'm a real Trophywife! I'm a Mum of 3, with a varied work history. I'm a qualified teacher of English and Drama, I was a children's journalist for a national newspaper in the UK before becoming a large scale event manager. I managed mostly huge Gala Dinners and Award Ceremonies with over 2000 guests , along with a Royal visit or 2 and I managed trade and exhibition space for the British leg of the World Rally Championships for 3 years. Racing cars, hot drivers in leather suits, muddy forests in the middle of the night - definitely my favourite event so far! Since I've been in Canada I freelance large scale Charity fundraising Gala's and ran my own online store selling traditional wooden toys, which sold last year. I don't settle for long.... I'm currently back as a bored housewife wondering what to do next, so watch this space.
I am the biggest David Bowie fan in the world and have his name tattooed on my back, I love chocolate, red wine and gin and I have a cat called Mr. Newton Star. And I'm not as old as I sound!
I. Have you read through and do you understand the application process?
Yes, I have.
J. End the forum post with your favorite quote. (Serious, funny, ridiculous, be creative)
Has to be my favourite Bowie quote and mantra 'Turn and face the strange'.
